DStv Now App is Now Available for Xbox One, Hisense TVs

DStv Now is a great app to watch your favorite channels live on your smart device. It’s been a fantastic app to use on mobile devices, but unless you owned a Smart TV it wasn’t the easiest of ways to get the service to run on your television. Should you be an Xbox One owner that is about to change.

DStv Now has officially launched on the Xbox One, which means you might now finally have a device that’s connected to your television set. As long as you’re an account holder of the premium DStv service with a PVR decoder, DStv Compact Plus and Compact customers with an Explora you’ll gain access to it. The app has also been added to Hisense TVs.

Usage of DStv Now is increasing rapidly with more than two million plays of live and Catch Up content per week,” MultiChoice said in a statement.

Below are all the devices that are now supported:

  1. Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X
  2. Hisense smart TVs (selected models from 2018)
  3. Samsung smart TVs (selected models from 2015 onwards)
  4. LG smart TVs (models running webOS 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0)
  5. Apple TV (4th gen and up)
  6. Media players running Android TV (Google-certified devices only)

Unfortunately, we doubt that Xbox One X owners will receive 4K support, as Multichoice is yet to breach HD to UHD mark. Accessing the DStv Now service requires an active Internet connection in addition to the account details for your existing DStv subscription

Up to four devices can sign into the same account and two devices can stream content at the same time.

10 Ways To Earn Money As A Student In Nigeria Both Online And Offline

Are you looking for ways to earn money in Nigeria as a student? In this article, you will find a list of well-detailed 10 ways to earn money as a student in Nigeria both online and offline.

Trust me, you are not a complete student until you can point to at least one source of income in school apart from your parents.

So many students make the mistake of thinking that being a student ends at passing school examinations.

That’s not true, you need to work on other parts of your life which financial independence is one of them.

Now, I am going to show you ways to make money online in Nigeria as a student.

1. Tutoring

What is the essence of the book you know when you can’t help others with it? There are many ways you can make money in school and this is one of the best.

Whatever course you are studying, there is another student out there willing to pay for the knowledge. So, you can help others by teaching them while you get paid for it.

There are several tutorials available to you as a student. Some of them include:

Home tutoring: This is where you teach students subjects/courses at home. It may be a primary or secondary school student. It may as well be in a tertiary level.

School tutoring: Here, the service is rendered in the school. Usually, this will work out during breaks unless you are running a part-time program in school or where you work.

Online tutoring: There are some online platforms where you can teach students virtually and you get paid for it.

2. Blogging/Vlogging

Blogging is getting more and more exposure every day. If you have can write interesting content, why don’t you learn Search Engine Optimisation (S.E.O) and set up a blog today.

I am a blogger too and it has been a passive source of income. You can earn from blogging form Google ads, sponsored posts, paid ads e.t.c.

On the other hand, Video blogging also called Vlogging deals with posting video on YouTube. This is not very common in Nigeria yet and you have a better chance. All you need is an idea, something to make videos and some knowledge on video editing.

3. Photography/Video Making

A lot of events happen within the school premises. If you know how to use the digital camera very well, then you can always make money in school.

All you need is a good marketing strategy to promote your business and get more exposure.

Also, you can money from video making. You can make short videos for students and as you go on, it can get bigger.

I have a roommate that also make money from making videos for students and earn some ton on money from this.

4. Hair Stylist

You know girls can make hair for the whole universe. If you have interest in this, why don’t you learn how to make it too?

If you live in the school hostel, this is a very big advantage for you. A lot of students would rather patronize you when you can easily do it in their room rather than them going some far distances.

So, if you are very good at this, you are definitely going to make money as a student.

5. Barbing

In 3 months, you can learn how to barb and be very good at it. A have a number of friends who are earning very well from this even before gaining admission.

Now, imagine how much you can make after gaining admission when you have a lot of friends who will always want to have their hair-cut.

6. Web Designing

Man as a designer sitting at his table and working on computer

After seeing this point, some people will start thinking about people studying computer science/engineering. The truth is that you don’t need to study any of this courses before you learn how to design a website.

In fact, students who study these courses won’t learn this in school. Our school system teaches more of theories than practical.

So, if you want to learn how to design a blog/website, you need to read online and watch tutorials. A lot of students have met with me on the issue on web design or creating a blog.

7. Fashion Designing

This is another good one. If you know how to make beautiful dresses, then you can make money as a student making some.

The only problem is that you have to consider if you will be able to manage it with academics as this may be time-consuming.

8. Affiliate Marketing

Do you know people make money as Jumia agent? This is a typical example of what affiliate marketing is about.

There are many companies that will pay you a discount for helping them sell their product. You can register as an affiliate marketer, advertise their products, sell and in return you get a fixed discount for every product you sell.

Jumia and Konga are good examples of companies that offer this service. You can also check out others by searching for affiliate marketing programmes on Google.

9. Freelancing – upwork, fiverr, freelancer.com, hirewriter.com, iwriter.com

Have you heard of Upwork before? What about Fiverr? These are popular freelancing websites. There are many services you can render online there and get paid. This is one of the ways to earn online as a student in Nigeria.

Some of the services you can offer include content/article writing, logo designing, website review and others. You should check them out and see what you can offer. In turn, you will be paid for your service.

Some of the popular Freelancing websites you should check out include:

Upwork
Fiverr
Freelancer.com
Hirewriter.com
Iwriter.com

10. Computer Repair

This is another good way to earn money as a student. If you know how to fix computer hardware and software issues, this one is for you.

Other ways you can make money as a student include rendering catering services, Event Planning among others.

Android 9 Pie OTA Update Now Released for Infinix Note 5

One thing I like most about Infinix phones is the constant OS update, recall that a few days back, Infinix asked Note 5 users to be applying for Android 9 beta software for testing and now the update is available.

The awaiting Android 9 PIE has finally arrived for Note 5 users via OTA. The update brings you the best of Android 9 which adapts to you and how you use your phone, learning your preferences as you go.

Your experience gets better and better over time, and it keeps things running smoother, longer.

Before you think of carrying out this update, make sure you unroot your phone if it is rooted and also revert back to stock ROM if you installed a custom ROM to avoid stories that touch the heart.

You probably need to connect to a fast Wi-Fi network or subscribe to the affordable data plan to download, make sure your phone is not rooted, because the update may crash rooted devices and also charge your battery to at least 70% before proceeding with the software update.

Once the above requirements are met, go ahead with the below procedures.
Firstly, you should check your build number.
Go to Settings » About Phone (at bottom of the page) » Build number

  • Now, go to your phone “Settings” click on the “About Phone
  • Click “System Update”, then “Local Update”.
  • Click on your TCard Storage and hit the install button.

Relax and wait for the new update to fully install. After successful installation, your phone will be rebooted and the latest Android 9 Pie will smile to you on the device! Take note that the first booting process might take a few minutes to complete.

Note: This upgrade is only available for beta testers. Hopefully, it will be rolled out to all users very soon.
